Trusted by teams that hire with us
-
LATAM has been a gold mine for talent. Our CloudTask hires understand our company culture and mission, and they connect with our customers in a way that drives high NPS and CX scores.
David Barrett CEO, Expensify -
At first we were an SF-based team only. Then I met Amir Reiter back in 2018. After visiting Medellín, I knew LATAM would be key to our growth and success.
Tim Zheng CEO, Apollo.io -
After meeting my CX and CS team in Medellín, we immediately loved the culture and the work ethic. As a European-HQ company, we found LATAM to be perfect to service our American clients.

SKILLS
Top skills to look for in a full stack developer
Full stack does not mean expert at everything. It means solid on both sides and honest about where the limits are. These are the skills to check.
-
A modern frontend framework
React, Vue or Angular with TypeScript, good enough to build complete screens with loading, error and empty states handled.
-
A backend language and framework
Node.js, Python, Ruby, PHP or another server stack, with clean endpoints, validation and error handling.
-
Databases
Designing tables or collections, writing migrations and queries that stay fast as the data grows.
-
Deployment and environments
Shipping to your cloud with a CI pipeline, environment variables and a rollback plan, not by copying files to a server.
-
Product sense
Understanding why a feature exists, so the smallest version that solves the problem ships first.
-
Security basics
Authentication, permissions, secrets and input validation handled on both the client and the server.
-
Tests and code review
Tests on the flows that matter and pull requests small enough that someone else can review them properly.
-
AI as a tool, reviewed
Using coding assistants for boilerplate and first drafts across the stack, and reviewing every change before it ships.
HIRING GUIDE
How to hire a full stack developer
A full stack developer is often the first or second engineering hire, which makes the choice matter more. This guide covers what the role covers, when it fits, when it does not, and what to test before you hire.
What does a full stack developer do?
Builds complete features across the frontend and the backend: the screen, the API behind it, the database changes and the deployment. The value is that one person can take a feature from idea to production.
Day to day that means writing and reviewing code on both sides, fixing bugs wherever they show up and making trade-offs between doing something quickly and doing it in a way the team can maintain.
When is a full stack developer the right hire?
Early products, small teams and internal tools. When features are small to medium, the stack is conventional and speed of shipping matters more than depth in any single layer, a full stack developer removes handoffs.
It also fits established teams that want someone who can move between areas and unblock whichever side is behind this sprint.
When should you not hire a full stack developer?
When the hard part of your product sits deep in one layer: a complex interface with heavy interaction, or a backend with serious scale, data or reliability demands. There you want a specialist frontend or backend developer.
It is also the wrong hire when you expect one person to be your whole engineering team with no one to review their code or set priorities. That puts every technical decision, and every risk, on a single desk.
Which stack should you hire for?
The one you run. Common combinations include React or Vue with Node.js, the MERN stack of MongoDB, Express, React and Node, and Python or Ruby backends with a modern frontend. A developer who already knows your combination starts contributing far sooner.
Put both halves in the brief: the frontend framework and the backend language, plus the database and cloud. A developer strong on one side and weak on the other is common, and the brief is what filters for balance.
What should you test in a full stack interview?
Give a small feature that crosses the stack: a form that saves to the database through an API and shows the result. Look at both halves. Many candidates are clearly stronger on one side, and you need to know which.
Then ask about a feature they shipped end to end. You want to hear the trade-offs they made, what they would do differently and how they tested it.
Red flags in full stack developer candidates
One half missing. In the sample feature, look at each side on its own. A polished screen over an endpoint with no validation, or a solid API behind a form that breaks on the first error, tells you which half you would be covering yourself.
Validation on one side only. Ask where the input is checked. A candidate who trusts the browser to validate, and lets the server accept whatever arrives, has skipped the security basics the role depends on.
No trade-offs to report. When they describe a feature they shipped end to end, listen for what they chose not to do and what they would change. A story where every decision was right usually means nobody was weighing speed against maintainability.
Shipping by hand. Ask how their last feature reached production. Copying files to a server, with no pipeline and no rollback plan, is a habit your first bad release will expose.
Tested by clicking around. If the answer to how they tested a feature is that they tried it in the browser, expect the flows that matter to break quietly the next time someone changes them.
Are full stack developers still in demand?
Yes, especially in small and mid sized teams where one person covering the whole feature is worth more than two people waiting on each other.
As teams grow, the role usually shifts. Some full stack developers lean toward the frontend or the backend, and hiring specialists alongside them becomes the natural next step.
How much does it cost to hire a full stack developer?
It depends on seniority, stack, the language requirement and the country the person works from, and any single number describes one scenario and calls it a price.
What is worth understanding is the shape. On Managed Staffing it is one all-in monthly rate per person with payments, compliance and replacement cover inside it. On Direct Hire it is a one-time fee and the person goes on your payroll. We quote your number before you interview anyone.
Why hire a full stack developer in Latin America?
Overlap. A full stack developer touches every part of the product and talks to product, design and the rest of engineering all day, and Latin America and the Caribbean share most of the US working day.
The second reason is communication. Your developer explains trade-offs, writes pull request descriptions and joins planning in English, and we screen English live on a call.
How does CloudTask hire for this role?
You send the stack, the kind of work and the hours you need covered. We source against that brief and come back with 3 to 5 matched profiles within 48 hours, each one screened on a live call and checked against the stack you named.
You interview and choose. On Managed Staffing we handle payments, compliance and onboarding and stay involved with check-ins. On Direct Hire the person joins your payroll from day one. Both carry a replacement guarantee: 24 months on Managed Staffing, 6 months on Direct Hire.
