How it works
How do I hire an SEO specialist?
You do one thing: interview. We handle everything else.
Post the role
5 minutes. The role, the motion, the tools, the comp band. That is all we need to start.
Review your matches
3 to 5 matches in 48 hours.
Interview and hire
We coordinate interviews. On Managed Staffing, we also handle payroll and compliance across LATAM.
WHY TEAMS TRUST CLOUDTASK
What you get with every hire
One person on your site
A dedicated SEO who learns your product, your content and your history. Not a rotating account team or a package resold under someone else's name.
Same day as your team
Latin America and the Caribbean overlap the US working day, so fixes, briefs and reviews happen with your developers and writers, not in a monthly report.
Verified on your stack
Search Console, GA4, your CMS, your crawler and keyword tools. Checked per candidate against the stack you name, not taken from a self-reported list.
Replacement guarantee
24 months on Managed Staffing, 6 months on Direct Hire. SEO compounds slowly, so the guarantee covers the case where the fit is wrong before the results have time to show.

David Barrett CEO, Expensify -
At first we were an SF-based team only. Then I met Amir Reiter back in 2018. After visiting Medellín, I knew LATAM would be key to our growth and success.
Tim Zheng CEO, Apollo.io -
After meeting my CX and CS team in Medellín, we immediately loved the culture and the work ethic. As a European-HQ company, we found LATAM to be perfect to service our American clients.

SKILLS
Top capabilities to look for in an SEO specialist
Anyone can run a site audit tool. These are the capabilities that decide whether an SEO hire moves qualified traffic or produces reports about it.
-
Keyword research tied to buyers
Separating the searches that bring customers from the ones that bring job seekers, students and competitors. Volume is the least important number on the list.
-
Technical SEO they can explain
Indexing, crawl budget, site speed, structured data and redirects, written up as tickets a developer can act on without a translation meeting.
-
Content briefs and on page work
Briefs that tell a writer what the page must answer and why, plus titles, headings and internal links that match what the searcher came for.
-
AI search visibility
Answer engines cite pages that answer the question plainly. A current SEO knows how to structure content so AI Overviews and assistants can quote it.
-
Measurement that is honest
Reporting on qualified clicks and conversions, not impressions and positions for keywords nobody buys from.
-
Earning links, not buying them
Digital PR, partnerships and content worth citing. Bought link packages are a risk to the site and a sign of the wrong approach.
-
Prioritization
Knowing which fix moves the most traffic for the least effort, and working that list in order instead of starting everything at once.
-
Working with the rest of the team
SEO lands through developers, writers and designers. The job is as much persuasion and follow through as it is analysis.
HIRING GUIDE
How to hire an SEO expert
Most results for hiring SEO help point you to a freelance platform or an outsourcing package. Both suit some situations. This guide covers when a dedicated SEO specialist is the better choice, what to screen for, and when you should not hire one at all.
What does an SEO specialist actually do?
The work splits into three parts: making sure search engines can crawl and understand the site, making sure the pages answer what buyers search for, and giving other sites reasons to link and cite you.
Day to day that means research, briefs, technical tickets, on page changes, internal linking and reporting. The mix depends on the site, and a good specialist tells you which part is holding you back before asking for budget.
Should I use a freelancer, an outsourcing package or a dedicated hire?
A freelancer is the right purchase for a defined project: an audit, a migration check, a one-off fix. You pay for the task and the context leaves when it ends.
Outsourced and white label SEO packages sell a fixed set of deliverables every month, often resold by an agency under its own name. They suit sites that need routine work at low volume.
A dedicated specialist makes sense when SEO is a channel you are building rather than a box you are ticking: continuous content, a site that changes often, and a team that needs someone in the room when decisions are made.
When should I not hire an SEO specialist?
When nobody searches for what you sell. Some products are bought through referrals, outbound or events, and no amount of optimization creates demand that does not exist. Check the search volume for the terms your buyers would actually use before you hire.
It is also the wrong hire when there is no one to implement the recommendations. An SEO without access to a developer or a writer produces a backlog, not traffic.
Is SEO still worth it with AI search?
Yes, but the target has moved. AI Overviews and assistants now answer part of the query before anyone clicks, and they tend to cite pages that answer the question directly and clearly.
That rewards the same fundamentals SEO always rewarded, done with more discipline: pages that answer a specific question, clear structure, and content other sources trust enough to cite. An SEO who works on both Google and AI visibility is doing one job, not two.
What should I check in the interview?
Ask for a site they improved and the numbers that moved, then ask which of those numbers were qualified clicks rather than impressions. Vague answers about rankings are a warning sign.
Then give them your own site and a week. Ask for the three changes they would make first and why. The order they choose tells you more than any certificate.
Red flags in SEO specialist candidates
Rankings as the result. When they walk through a site they improved, a candidate who answers with positions and impressions for keywords nobody buys from, and cannot separate out qualified clicks, is optimizing for the report rather than for your pipeline.
Volume first. Ask how they choose keywords. If search volume is the first criterion and they never mention separating buyers from job seekers, students and competitors, you will rank for searches that bring no customers.
Everything at once. In the exercise on your own site, a candidate who comes back with a long audit in no particular order, instead of the few changes that move the most traffic for the least effort, leaves your team a backlog rather than a plan.
Tickets only an SEO can read. Ask for a technical recommendation they handed to a developer. If it needed a translation meeting before anyone could act on it, expect your fixes to sit in the queue.
Links as a purchase. Ask how they earned links on a past site. A candidate comfortable with bought link packages is taking a risk with your site and following the wrong approach.
How long before SEO shows results?
Technical fixes on a site with existing traffic can show within weeks. New content usually takes months to rank, and more in competitive spaces.
Plan the first month for access, an audit and a prioritized list, and judge the hire on whether that list is being worked in order, not on traffic in the first quarter.
How much does an SEO specialist cost?
It depends on seniority, the size and complexity of the site, the language requirement and the country the person works from, so any single number describes one scenario and calls it a price.
What is worth understanding is the shape. On Managed Staffing it is one all-in monthly rate per person with payments, compliance and replacement cover inside it. On Direct Hire it is a one-time fee and the person goes on your payroll. We quote your number before you interview anyone.
Why hire an SEO specialist in Latin America?
Overlap. SEO work lands through your developers, writers and product team, and Latin America and the Caribbean share most of the US working day, so reviews and fixes happen live.
The second reason is English. Your SEO writes briefs, titles and content for a US audience, and we screen that live on a call rather than inferring it from a profile.
How does CloudTask hire for this role?
You send the site, the goals, the tools and the hours you need covered. We come back with 3 to 5 matched profiles within 48 hours, each one screened on a live call and verified against the stack you named.
You interview and choose. On Managed Staffing we handle payments, compliance and onboarding and stay involved with check-ins. On Direct Hire the person joins your payroll from day one. Both carry a replacement guarantee: 24 months on Managed Staffing, 6 months on Direct Hire.
