You do one thing: interview. We handle everything else.
Post the role

Interview and hire
We coordinate interviews. On Managed Staffing, we also handle payroll and compliance across LATAM.
WHY TEAMS TRUST CLOUDTASK
What you get with every hire
A designer, not an engagement
A dedicated person on your team who learns your users and your product, instead of an agency team that hands over files and moves to the next client.
Same day as your team
Latin America and the Caribbean overlap the US working day, so feedback rounds, reviews and engineering questions happen the same day.
Checked against your tools
Figma, your prototyping and research tools and your design system. Verified per candidate against the stack you name.
Replacement guarantee
24 months on Managed Staffing, 6 months on Direct Hire. Your roadmap cannot wait for a second search, so the guarantee covers the case where the fit is wrong.

-
LATAM has been a gold mine for talent. Our CloudTask hires understand our company culture and mission, and they connect with our customers in a way that drives high NPS and CX scores.
David Barrett CEO, Expensify -
At first we were an SF-based team only. Then I met Amir Reiter back in 2018. After visiting Medellín, I knew LATAM would be key to our growth and success.
Tim Zheng CEO, Apollo.io -
After meeting my CX and CS team in Medellín, we immediately loved the culture and the work ethic. As a European-HQ company, we found LATAM to be perfect to service our American clients.

SKILLS
Top capabilities to look for in a UI/UX designer
Dribbble shots show visual skill. These are the capabilities that decide whether your interface gets easier to use with every release.
-
User research and testing
Interviews, usability tests and reading analytics, then turning what users do into changes the team can ship.
-
Information architecture
Structuring navigation, content and flows so people find what they need without thinking about it.
-
Wireframes and prototypes
Moving fast from sketches to clickable prototypes, and testing the idea before anyone invests in pixel perfect screens.
-
Interface design
Typography, spacing, color and hierarchy applied consistently, across desktop and mobile, so the product looks like one product.
-
Design systems
Building and maintaining components, tokens and documentation in Figma, in step with what engineering has actually built.
-
Accessibility
Contrast, focus states, keyboard navigation and screen reader labels designed in from the start, not fixed after an audit.
-
Handoff to developers
Specs, states and annotations engineers can build from, and checking the build until it matches the design.
-
AI where it saves a step
Early variations, draft interface copy and research summaries. Useful for speed, always shaped by what real users do.
HIRING GUIDE
UX design agency or a dedicated UI/UX designer?
Search for a UX design agency and you get agency rankings and directories: UX Studio, UX Planet, Clutch and Dribbble lists, plus a Reddit thread asking which agency is best. This guide covers the other option: when a dedicated UI/UX designer on your team is the better choice, when it is not, and what to check before you hire.
What is a UX design agency?
A studio that designs digital products for clients, usually as a project: research, flows, interface design and a handoff to your engineers. Many also offer ongoing retainers.
What you buy is a team for a period of time. When the engagement ends, the knowledge of your users and your product mostly leaves with it.
What does a UI/UX designer do?
Makes a product easy and pleasant to use. UX covers research, structure and flows: what the user is trying to do and how the product gets them there. UI covers the visual layer: layout, typography, components and states.
A UI/UX designer on your team does both, works with product and engineering every day, and keeps improving what has already shipped.
Should I hire an agency or a dedicated designer?
An agency is the right choice for a defined project that needs several specialists at once: a full redesign with brand work, a new product from zero with research, visual and motion design in parallel.
A dedicated designer is the right choice when design work is continuous: new features every sprint, a design system to maintain, usability problems to fix. That is where rebriefing an outside team every time costs the most.
When should you not hire a dedicated UI/UX designer?
When you need a one-time redesign with brand identity attached and do not have steady design work after it. An agency or a studio will serve you better, and a dedicated person would run out of work.
It is also the wrong hire when there is no engineering capacity to build what is designed, or when nobody on your side can give product direction. A designer can own the design; they cannot replace the product decisions.
What should I look for in a UI/UX portfolio?
Case studies that show the problem, the research, the options that were dropped and the result after launch, not only polished final screens.
Check that the work matches your product type. Designing a complex SaaS dashboard is a different skill from designing a consumer app or a marketing site.
What should I check in the interview?
Ask them to walk through one case study and explain what changed because of user research. Then ask what they would do differently now.
Give them a screen from your product and 30 minutes to critique it. You want specific, reasoned observations about usability and hierarchy, not a list of visual preferences.
Red flags in UI/UX designer candidates
Only polished final screens. A portfolio with no problem, no research and no dropped options shows visual skill, not how they make decisions. Ask what the screen replaced and what happened after launch.
Research that changed nothing. Ask what changed in a case study because of user research. If they cannot name a decision that users changed, research was a step in the process, not an input to the design.
Taste instead of reasons. In the critique of your screen, listen for observations about usability and hierarchy, argued with reasons. A list of colors and fonts they would prefer tells you how design reviews with your team will go.
Pixel perfect first. A candidate who goes straight to finished screens, with no wireframe or prototype to test the idea, will ask your team to invest in designs no user has seen.
Handoff and walk away. Ask how their last design reached production and whether the build matched it. A designer who stops at the file leaves the states, specs and differences for your engineers to guess.
How much does it cost to hire a UI/UX designer?
It depends on seniority, the kind of product, the language requirement and the country the person works from, and any single number describes one scenario and calls it a price.
What is worth understanding is the shape. On Managed Staffing it is one all-in monthly rate per person with payments, compliance and replacement cover inside it. On Direct Hire it is a one-time fee and the person goes on your payroll. We quote your number before you interview anyone.
Why hire a UI/UX designer in Latin America?
Overlap. Design moves in short feedback loops with product managers, engineers and users, and Latin America and the Caribbean share most of the US working day, so a review does not wait until tomorrow.
The second reason is communication. A designer presents work, runs user sessions and writes specs in English, and we screen that live on a call.
How does CloudTask hire for this role?
You send the product, the tools, the balance of UX and UI work and the hours you need covered. We source against that brief and come back with 3 to 5 matched profiles within 48 hours, each one screened on a live call and verified against the stack you named.
You interview and choose. On Managed Staffing we handle payments, compliance and onboarding and stay involved with check-ins. On Direct Hire the person joins your payroll from day one. Both carry a replacement guarantee: 24 months on Managed Staffing, 6 months on Direct Hire.
