How it works

How do I hire a web developer?

You do one thing: interview. We handle everything else.

1

Post the role

5 minutes. The role, the motion, the tools, the comp band. That is all we need to start.

2

Review your matches

3 to 5 matches in 48 hours.

3

Interview and hire

We coordinate interviews. On Managed Staffing, we also handle payroll and compliance across LATAM.

WHY TEAMS TRUST CLOUDTASK

What you get with every hire

One developer, your site

A dedicated person who learns your site, your stack and your brand. Not a new freelancer for every ticket or an agency team that moves on after launch.

Same day as your marketers

Latin America and the Caribbean overlap the US working day, so a landing page request or a broken form gets handled while the campaign is still live.

Verified on your platform

WordPress, Webflow, Shopify themes, HubSpot CMS, your forms and your analytics. Checked per candidate against the stack you name.

Replacement guarantee

24 months on Managed Staffing, 6 months on Direct Hire. Your site cannot wait for a second search, so the guarantee covers the case where the fit is wrong.

SKILLS

Top capabilities to look for in a web developer

Most marketing sites do not need more features. They need someone who ships pages fast, keeps them working and does not break what is already there.

  • Your CMS, in depth

WordPress themes and plugins, Webflow components and CMS collections, or Shopify themes. Fluent in the platform you run, not just familiar with it.

  • Landing pages on a deadline

Building a campaign page from a design or a brief in days, not weeks, and reusing components so the next one is faster.

  • Speed and Core Web Vitals

Image handling, script weight, caching and hosting settings. A slow page costs conversions and search visibility.

  • Forms, tracking and integrations

Forms that reach your CRM, tags that fire, analytics that match reality. Most marketing site problems live in these connections.

  • Maintenance and security

Updates, backups, uptime checks and plugin hygiene done on a schedule, before something breaks in front of a customer.

  • Technical SEO basics

Redirects, sitemaps, canonical tags, structured data and clean page templates, working with whoever owns your SEO.

  • Working with marketing and design

Turning a design file into a page that matches it, and pushing back early when a request will hurt speed or maintainability.

  • AI where it saves a step

Drafting code snippets, checking accessibility and writing first versions of documentation. Useful for speed, always reviewed before it ships.

HIRING GUIDE

How to hire a web developer for your marketing site

Hiring for a marketing website is a different job from hiring a software engineer. This guide covers what a website developer actually does, when an agency or a freelancer is the better choice, and what to check before you hire.

What does a web developer do for a marketing team?

Builds and maintains the public website: new pages, landing pages for campaigns, templates, forms, tracking and integrations with your CRM and analytics. Keeps it fast, secure and up to date.

This is marketing site development. Building your product, your app or your internal software is a software engineering hire with a different skill set, covered on our frontend developers and full stack developers pages.

Should I hire a developer, an agency or a freelancer?

An agency is the right choice for a one-time redesign with brand and strategy work attached. A freelancer is the right choice for an occasional, well-defined task.

A dedicated developer is the right choice when the work is continuous: new pages every week, campaign deadlines, fixes, maintenance. That is where the cost of rebriefing an outside team every time adds up.

When should you not hire a dedicated web developer?

When your site changes a few times a year. A dedicated person will not have enough to do, and a freelancer or a maintenance plan will serve you better.

It is also the wrong hire when you actually need a product engineer. If the work is your application, your platform or your data, see our frontend developers, backend developers and full stack developers pages instead.

WordPress, Webflow or something else?

Hire for the platform you run today, not the one you might migrate to. A developer who knows your platform deeply ships faster than a generalist who knows many of them a little.

If you are planning a migration, make it part of the brief so the search covers both platforms.

Is WordPress outdated?

No. It still runs a very large share of marketing sites and has a deep plugin ecosystem. The real risk is an unmaintained install with too many plugins, which is a maintenance problem, not a platform problem.

Webflow and similar tools suit teams that want marketers to edit pages without a developer. The right answer depends on who edits your site day to day.

What should I check in the interview?

Give a small real task: a section of a page from a design file, with a form that must reach your CRM. Look at how close the build is to the design, and whether the form was tested end to end.

Then ask what they would change about your current site and why. A good answer names speed, structure or tracking issues, not just visual taste.

Red flags in web developer candidates

A form nobody tested. After the build task, submit the form yourself and check whether it reached your CRM. A candidate who delivered a page that looks right but never tested the form end to end will ship campaigns that quietly lose leads.

Close enough to the design. Put their build next to the design file. Details that drift from the design tell you every page will need a round of corrections from your designer before it goes live.

Taste instead of diagnosis. Ask what they would change about your current site. An answer about colors and fonts, with nothing on speed, structure or tracking, means the problems that cost you conversions will stay where they are.

Familiar with everything. Fluency in the platform you run matters more than familiarity with many. A candidate who lists WordPress, Webflow and Shopify but cannot explain how they would build a component or a CMS collection on yours will learn it on your live site.

Maintenance only after something breaks. Updates, backups and plugin hygiene belong on a schedule. If they describe maintenance as fixing what a customer reported, expect to hear about your site's problems from customers first.

How much does it cost to hire a web developer?

It depends on seniority, the platform, the language requirement and the country the person works from, and any single number describes one scenario and calls it a price.

What is worth understanding is the shape. On Managed Staffing it is one all-in monthly rate per person with payments, compliance and replacement cover inside it. On Direct Hire it is a one-time fee and the person goes on your payroll. We quote your number before you interview anyone.

Why hire a web developer in Latin America?

Overlap. Marketing teams run on deadlines, and a developer who works the same hours can fix a broken page or ship a landing page the same day it is requested.

The second reason is communication. Your developer works with your marketers and designers in English every day, and we screen that live on a call.

How does CloudTask hire for this role?

You send the platform, the kind of work and the hours you need covered. We source against that brief and come back with 3 to 5 matched profiles within 48 hours, each one screened on a live call and verified on the platform you named.

You interview and choose. On Managed Staffing we handle payments, compliance and onboarding and stay involved with check-ins. On Direct Hire the person joins your payroll from day one. Both carry a replacement guarantee: 24 months on Managed Staffing, 6 months on Direct Hire.

FAQ

The fine print, in plain terms.

How much does it cost to hire a WordPress developer?
It depends on seniority, scope and country, so a single number would mislead you. On Managed Staffing you pay one all-in monthly rate per person; on Direct Hire, a one-time fee. We quote your role before you interview.
Do you place software engineers or app developers?
Yes, as a separate role. This page is about marketing website development: WordPress, Webflow, Shopify themes and landing pages. For product and application engineering, see our frontend developers, backend developers and full stack developers pages.
Can the developer also maintain the site?
Yes. Updates, backups, uptime checks, speed and plugin hygiene are part of the role, alongside new pages and campaign work.
Is outsourcing web development a good idea?
For a one-time project, an agency or a freelancer often makes sense. For continuous work on your marketing site, a dedicated developer on your team usually keeps more context and moves faster.
How fast can a web developer start?
You get 3 to 5 matched profiles within 48 hours. After you choose, plan the first week for access, a walkthrough of your site and a small first task.
What is the $299 for?
It starts your search. One time, not a subscription. It applies to your first placement or toward a buyout, so it is not an extra cost, it is the first part of one.
Why is there no number on the monthly rate?
Because it depends on the role, the seniority and the country. We quote the all-in monthly rate per person before you interview, so you know the number before you commit to anyone.
Who is the legal employer?
On Managed Staffing, CloudTask is the contracting party and handles payments and compliance, and you direct the work. On Direct Hire, you employ and manage the hire from day one.
How does tracking work, and can I turn it off?
On Managed Staffing, time and activity tracking is on by default. Talk to us about your setup when you start your search.
What happens if the person does not work out?
Managed Staffing carries a 24-month replacement guarantee, and replacements are not capped. Direct Hire carries a 6-month replacement guarantee: one replacement for the same job description.
Is there a platform or subscription fee?
No. $299 starts your search, one time, and applies toward your first placement. There is no subscription.
