ALL ROLES / AI SDR OPERATORS

Hire an SDR who runs the AI stack and books the meetings

AI SDR tools write and send at volume. They do not hold a conversation. A dedicated SDR from Latin America runs the research, the sequencing and the AI drafts, and handles the replies and calls the tools cannot.

How it works

How do I hire an AI SDR operator?

You do one thing: interview. We handle everything else.

1

Post the role

5 minutes. The role, the motion, the tools, the comp band. That is all we need to start.

2

Review your matches

3 to 5 matches in 48 hours.

3

Interview and hire

We coordinate interviews. On Managed Staffing, we also handle payroll and compliance across LATAM.

WHY TEAMS TRUST CLOUDTASK

What you get with every hire

A person behind the tools

One dedicated SDR who owns your outbound, reads every reply and takes the calls. Not a bot sending on your domain with nobody watching.

Live in your prospects' day

Latin America and the Caribbean overlap the US business day, so replies get answered and calls get made while the prospect is still at their desk.

Verified on your stack

Clay, Apollo, HubSpot, Salesforce, your sequencer and your dialer. Checked per candidate instead of taken from a self-reported list.

Replacement guarantee

24 months on Managed Staffing, 6 months on Direct Hire. Outbound cannot pause for a second search, so the guarantee covers the case where the fit is wrong.

SKILLS

Top capabilities to look for in an AI SDR operator

Any SDR can log in to an AI tool. These are the capabilities that decide whether the tools make your outbound sharper or just louder.

  • Account research with AI

Using Clay, enrichment and AI research to find the accounts worth a message and the reason worth writing about, before a single email goes out.

  • Editing AI drafts, not sending them

Treating every AI draft as a first version, rewriting the opener, cutting the filler and checking every fact about the prospect before it ships.

  • Calls the tools cannot make

Cold calls, follow-up calls and the conversation that turns a lukewarm reply into a meeting. This is still where most pipeline gets decided.

  • Handling replies with judgment

Objections, referrals, timing questions and the reply that is really a no. A tool classifies them; a good SDR answers them.

  • Qualification before the handoff

Booking meetings your AEs actually want, with the context written into the CRM, instead of filling calendars with calls nobody should take.

  • Deliverability and domain hygiene

Volume limits, warmed domains, clean lists and opt-outs honored. Automated outbound that burns your domain costs more than it books.

  • Reading the numbers

Reply rates by segment, meetings by sequence, and the discipline to kill a campaign that is not working instead of adding volume to it.

  • Building repeatable plays

Turning what worked this week into a sequence, a Clay table or a prompt the next campaign can reuse.

HIRING GUIDE

AI SDR tools or an SDR who runs them: how to decide

Search for AI SDR and almost every result is a software vendor. That is a fair answer to part of the question. This guide covers what the tools do well, what they do not, when a tool alone is enough, and how to hire a person who runs them.

What is an AI SDR?

The term is used two ways. Most often it means software that researches prospects, writes outreach and sends sequences with little human input. Sometimes it means a human SDR who works with that software as part of the job.

This page is about the second. The tools are real and useful. The question is who owns the pipeline they produce.

Will SDRs be replaced by AI?

The typing is being replaced. Research, list building, first drafts and sequencing are faster with AI, and an SDR who does all of that by hand is working at a disadvantage.

What is not replaced is the conversation: the reply that needs judgment, the call that turns interest into a meeting, and the call on whether a prospect is worth your AE's time. The role is shifting from sending volume to operating a system and handling the humans it reaches.

When is an AI SDR tool enough on its own?

When the offer is simple, the list is large, the price point is low and a meeting is not the goal. Some inbound follow-up and some high-volume, low-touch motions fit that description, and a tool with light supervision is the right purchase.

If your buyers are senior, your deals are considered and a bad email can cost you an account, a tool alone is a risk to your domain and your reputation. That is when you want a person running it.

What does an SDR who runs AI tools actually do?

Research and list building in the morning with Clay and enrichment. Reviewing and rewriting the AI drafts for the day's sequences. Calls in the afternoon. Replies handled as they arrive, and every qualified meeting written up in the CRM before the handoff.

The tools cut the hours spent on preparation. The hours saved go into conversations, which is the part of the job that produces meetings.

What should I screen for in the interview?

Give them a real account and ask for a first message. Then show them an AI draft for the same account and ask what they would change. You are testing whether they edit with judgment or accept whatever the tool produced.

Then do a short live call with an objection in it. The call is still the fastest way to see whether someone can do the part of the job AI cannot.

Red flags in AI SDR operator candidates

Accepting the draft. In the draft exercise, a candidate who approves the AI version with light changes, or does not check the facts about the prospect, will send whatever the tool produces from your domain. Strong candidates rewrite the opener and cut the filler.

Volume as the answer. Ask what they did the last time a campaign was not working. If the answer is more sends, more sequences or more contacts, they will make your outbound louder, not sharper. You want to hear about a campaign they killed.

Hiding behind the tools. A candidate who talks at length about Clay tables and sequences but goes quiet in the live call, or repeats the pitch after the objection, cannot do the part of the job AI cannot.

Deliverability is someone else's job. A candidate who has never thought about volume limits, warmed domains, clean lists or opt-outs can burn your domain, and outbound that burns a domain costs more than it books.

Every reply is a meeting. An SDR who cannot describe a meeting they chose not to book, or how they answer the reply that is really a no, will fill your AEs' calendars with calls nobody should take.

How long before a new SDR is booking meetings?

Expect the first two weeks on your product, your ICP, your tools and your messaging. Live sequences come after that, and the meeting rate improves as the targeting and the messaging get sharper.

On Managed Staffing, outbound SDR roles carry a six-month minimum term.

How much does an AI SDR operator cost?

It depends on seniority, the motion, the language requirement and the country the person works from, so any single number describes one scenario and calls it a price. The tools you already pay for are separate.

What is worth understanding is the shape. On Managed Staffing it is one all-in monthly rate per person, with payments, compliance and replacement cover inside it, and a six-month minimum term for this role. On Direct Hire it is a one-time fee and the person goes on your payroll. We quote your number before you interview anyone.

Why hire an SDR in Latin America?

Overlap. Replies and calls are time-sensitive, and Latin America and the Caribbean share most of the US working day, so your SDR is working while your prospects are.

The second reason is English on the phone. We screen it live on a call, because written outreach can be polished by a tool and a cold call cannot.

How does CloudTask hire for this role?

You send the ICP, the motion, the tools and the hours you need covered. We come back with 3 to 5 matched profiles within 48 hours, each one screened on a live call and verified against the stack you named.

You interview and choose. On Managed Staffing we handle payments, compliance and onboarding and stay involved with check-ins. On Direct Hire the person joins your payroll from day one. Both carry a replacement guarantee: 24 months on Managed Staffing, 6 months on Direct Hire.

FAQ

The fine print, in plain terms.

How much does an AI SDR cost?
Software pricing varies by vendor and volume. For a person who runs the tools, it depends on seniority, language and country. On Managed Staffing it is one all-in monthly rate per person; on Direct Hire, a one-time fee. We quote your role before you interview.
Do I need an AI SDR tool if I hire an SDR operator?
Not necessarily a dedicated AI SDR product. Most of the value comes from research and enrichment tools such as Clay, a sequencer and a CRM. Your SDR works inside whatever stack you already have, and can tell you where it has gaps.
Can the SDR work in our CRM and email domain?
Yes. The person works inside your CRM, your sequencer and your domain, under the sending limits and access rules you set.
How fast can an SDR start?
You get 3 to 5 matched profiles within 48 hours. After you choose, plan for two weeks of onboarding on your product, ICP and messaging before live sequences.
What is the $299 for?
It starts your search. One time, not a subscription. It applies to your first placement or toward a buyout, so it is not an extra cost, it is the first part of one.
Why is there no number on the monthly rate?
Because it depends on the role, the seniority and the country. We quote the all-in monthly rate per person before you interview, so you know the number before you commit to anyone.
Who is the legal employer?
On Managed Staffing, CloudTask is the contracting party and handles payments and compliance, and you direct the work. On Direct Hire, you employ and manage the hire from day one.
How does tracking work, and can I turn it off?
On Managed Staffing, time and activity tracking is on by default. Talk to us about your setup when you start your search.
What happens if the person does not work out?
Managed Staffing carries a 24-month replacement guarantee, and replacements are not capped. Direct Hire carries a 6-month replacement guarantee: one replacement for the same job description.
Is there a platform or subscription fee?
No. $299 starts your search, one time, and applies toward your first placement. There is no subscription.
