How it works

How do I hire an AI marketing specialist?

You do one thing: interview. We handle everything else.

1

Post the role

5 minutes. The role, the motion, the tools, the comp band. That is all we need to start.

2

Review your matches

3 to 5 matches in 48 hours.

3

Interview and hire

We coordinate interviews. On Managed Staffing, we also handle payroll and compliance across LATAM.

WHY TEAMS TRUST CLOUDTASK

What you get with every hire

An operator, not a deck

One person on your team who builds the workflow, runs it every week and fixes it when it breaks. Not a consultant who leaves after the recommendations.

Your working day, covered

Latin America and the Caribbean overlap the US business day, so the person running your automations is online when your campaigns and your team are.

Verified on your stack

HubSpot, GoHighLevel, Zapier, Make, n8n, ChatGPT, Claude. Checked per candidate against the tools you name, not taken from a self-reported list.

Replacement guarantee

24 months on Managed Staffing, 6 months on Direct Hire. If the fit is wrong, we replace the person instead of leaving you with half-built workflows and no owner.

SKILLS

Top capabilities to look for in an AI marketing specialist

Anyone can open a chatbot. These are the capabilities that decide whether AI saves your marketing team hours every week or produces more content nobody checked.

  • Building workflows that run unattended

Lead routing, enrichment, follow-up and reporting wired together in your tools, documented, and monitored so a silent failure gets caught the same day.

  • Drafting with a human edit

Using AI for the first version of an email, a post or a brief, and editing it into your voice before it ships. Speed on the draft, judgment on the send.

  • Visibility in AI search

Checking how ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity describe your company and your category, and working through the fixes on your own site and content.

  • Knowing what not to automate

Pricing conversations, a customer complaint, anything where a wrong answer costs a relationship. A good operator keeps a person in those loops.

  • Measuring what the AI changed

Hours saved, response times and conversion before and after. If a workflow cannot show its effect, it is a demo, not a system.

  • Data handling and access

Knowing which customer data can go into which tool, working inside the permissions you set, and never pasting restricted material into a public model.

  • Prompting as a written process

Prompts saved, versioned and shared with the team like any other playbook, so the output does not depend on one person remembering what worked.

  • Working alongside your marketers

AI is a layer on top of your marketing and sales team, not a replacement for it. The specialist makes the people around them faster.

HIRING GUIDE

How to hire an AI marketing specialist

Most searches for AI marketing help end at a consultant or an agency. Both can be the right call. This guide covers when a dedicated person inside your team is the better one, what the role actually does, and when you should not hire it at all.

What does an AI marketing specialist do?

They put AI to work inside the marketing you already run. That means building and maintaining the workflows that route and follow up leads, producing first drafts of content that a person then edits, and tracking how AI search tools describe your company.

The job is operational. The value is not in knowing which tools exist, it is in running them every week, measuring the result and fixing what breaks.

How is this different from an AI marketing consultant or an agency?

A consultant diagnoses and recommends. That is useful when you do not yet know where AI fits. An agency runs a defined scope for a retainer, usually alongside other clients.

A dedicated specialist is one person who learns your stack, your data and your team, and owns the workflows after they are built. Most AI projects do not fail at the idea stage. They fail three months later, when nobody is maintaining what was built.

Is AEO or GEO worth paying for?

It depends on whether buyers in your category ask AI tools for recommendations. Check first: ask ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity the questions your buyers ask, and read what comes back about you and your competitors.

If you are missing or described wrongly, the work is mostly content and site hygiene done consistently over months. That is a better fit for someone on your team than for a one-off project.

When should you not hire an AI marketing specialist?

When there is no marketing process yet for AI to speed up. Automating a process nobody has defined produces faster confusion. Hire a marketer first, and add AI to what they build.

It is also the wrong hire if what you need is software built: a custom model, a product feature or data infrastructure. That is a different search. CloudTask places AI and ML engineers too; see our AI and ML engineers page.

What should I delegate first?

Start with repeatable work that already has a clear owner and a measurable outcome: lead follow-up, meeting reminders, reporting, or drafting recurring content from a template.

Leave anything customer-facing and sensitive for later, until the specialist has shown the workflows are reliable and you have agreed where a person stays in the loop.

How do I interview an AI marketing specialist?

Ask them to walk you through one workflow they built: what triggered it, which tools it touched, what broke and how they found out. Specific answers are a good sign. A list of tools is not.

Then give them a real task from your team and ask where they would use AI and where they would not. The second half of the answer tells you more than the first.

Red flags in AI marketing specialist candidates

A list of tools instead of a workflow. A candidate who names every AI product but cannot walk you through one workflow they built, what triggered it, what broke and how they found out, has tried tools rather than run a system.

AI everywhere. When you give them a real task, a candidate who would automate every step, including the pricing conversation or the customer complaint, has not learned what not to automate. Listen hardest to where they say they would not use it.

Drafts that ship as written. Ask how they turn an AI first draft into your voice. A candidate who treats the draft as the finished piece will publish content nobody checked under your name.

No before and after. If they cannot say what a workflow changed, in hours saved, response times or conversion, they built a demo, not a system. Ask how they measured the last thing they automated.

Careless with data. A candidate who describes pasting customer data or restricted material into whatever tool was at hand will do the same with yours. Ask which data they would keep out of which tool, and why.

How much does an AI marketing specialist cost?

It depends on seniority, the tools involved, the language requirement and the country the person works from, and any single number describes one scenario and calls it a price.

What is worth understanding is the shape. On Managed Staffing it is one all-in monthly rate per person with payments, compliance and replacement cover inside it. On Direct Hire it is a one-time fee and the person goes on your payroll. We quote your number before you interview anyone.

Why hire an AI marketing specialist in Latin America?

Overlap. Workflows break during the working day, and campaigns launch during it. Latin America and the Caribbean share most of the US working day, so the fix happens while it still matters.

The second reason is English. A lot of this role is writing: prompts, drafts, documentation and updates to your team. We screen that live on a call rather than inferring it from a profile.

How does CloudTask hire for this role?

You send the workflows you want built or taken over, the tools and the hours you need covered. We come back with 3 to 5 matched profiles within 48 hours, each one screened on a live call and verified against the stack you named.

You interview and choose. On Managed Staffing we handle payments, compliance and onboarding and stay involved with check-ins. On Direct Hire the person joins your payroll from day one. Both carry a replacement guarantee: 24 months on Managed Staffing, 6 months on Direct Hire.

FAQ

The fine print, in plain terms.

What does an AI marketing consultant do?
A consultant assesses where AI fits in your marketing and recommends what to build. A dedicated specialist builds it, runs it and maintains it inside your team. Many companies need the second more than the first.
Is AEO worth it?
If buyers in your category ask AI tools for recommendations, yes. Check what ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity say about you first. If you are missing or described wrongly, the fix is steady content and site work, which suits someone on your team.
What does AEO stand for?
Answer engine optimization: making sure AI tools and search features that answer questions directly can find, understand and cite your company. GEO, generative engine optimization, is a closely related term.
Do you place AI engineers?
Yes, but it is a different search. This role uses AI inside marketing tools and workflows. If you need a model trained or a product feature built, the profile is an AI and ML engineer, which CloudTask also places. See our AI and ML engineers page.
Will an AI specialist replace my marketing team?
No. AI is a layer on top of your marketers and sellers, not a substitute for them. The specialist makes the team faster and keeps a person in every decision that matters.
What is the $299 for?
It starts your search. One time, not a subscription. It applies to your first placement or toward a buyout, so it is not an extra cost, it is the first part of one.
Why is there no number on the monthly rate?
Because it depends on the role, the seniority and the country. We quote the all-in monthly rate per person before you interview, so you know the number before you commit to anyone.
Who is the legal employer?
On Managed Staffing, CloudTask is the contracting party and handles payments and compliance, and you direct the work. On Direct Hire, you employ and manage the hire from day one.
How does tracking work, and can I turn it off?
On Managed Staffing, time and activity tracking is on by default. Talk to us about your setup when you start your search.
What happens if the person does not work out?
Managed Staffing carries a 24-month replacement guarantee, and replacements are not capped. Direct Hire carries a 6-month replacement guarantee: one replacement for the same job description.
Is there a platform or subscription fee?
No. $299 starts your search, one time, and applies toward your first placement. There is no subscription.
